Adult primary care clinicians: Family physicians, internists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants
Adults with mental health conditions are waiting months — sometimes longer — to see a specialist. Their primary care clinician is often the only health care professional they see in the meantime. This course builds the skills and confidence you need to assess, diagnose, and treat adult behavioral health problems in your own practice, so your patients get support now rather than later.
Like all REACH training, this course is built on adult learning science. It has two components:
- A 3-day, 17-hour interactive workshop focused on building skills and confidence in diagnosing and treating adult behavioral health problems.
- A 4-month case-based distance learning program — eight bimonthly, one-hour group calls led by a REACH family physician-psychiatrist faculty team, working through cases from your actual practice.
All participants receive a custom toolkit with: assessment instruments, dosing and side effect charts, medication comparison tables, and patient handouts — everything you need to put your learning to work immediately.
Participants can earn up to 25.5 CME credits for both components.
COURSE GOALS
After this course, you’ll be able to:
Identify and differentiate adult behavioral health conditions — including anxiety, somatic symptoms, depression, chronic pain, substance use, adult ADHD, psychosis, and bipolar disorder.
Manage psychopharmacology with confidence: select medications, adjust dosages, monitor progress, and minimize side effects.
Build and implement a treatment plan using the resources available to you and your patients.

This course is built for adult primary care clinicians — family physicians, internists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants — who see mental health challenges in their adult patients and want to feel more confident addressing them.

Participants can earn up to 25.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, 25.5 ANCC contact hours, or 25.5 AAPA Category 1 CME credits by completing both the workshop and the follow-up program.
The PPP focuses on pediatric mental health — children and adolescents. This course is designed specifically for clinicians treating adult patients, covering the behavioral health conditions most common in adult primary care practice.
Cancellations made 20 or more days before the course receive a 90% refund. Refunds decrease on a sliding scale closer to the course date. Transfers to another session are available within 12 months of registration.
