Pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants
Anxiety is one of the most common conditions you see in pediatric primary care — and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the most evidence-backed treatment available. This course teaches you to confidently use CBT techniques with anxious children and teens, so you can intervene early and effectively in your own practice.
Faculty include both a mental health professional and a pediatric primary care clinician, bringing clinical depth and real-world relevance to every session.
Like all REACH training, this course is built on adult learning science. It has two components:
- A full-day interactive workshop focused on building knowledge, skills, and confidence in CBT for youth anxiety.
- Four follow-up case-based group calls — one hour each — where you present cases from your practice, get expert feedback, and put your learning to work.
Participants can earn up to 10.75 CME credits for both components.
COURSE GOALS
After this course, you’ll be able to:

Screen and assess for anxiety in primary care settings.
Apply key CBT techniques — including exposure, cognitive restructuring, and coping strategies — with anxious children and teens.

Hear from participants
“The content of this course was extremely pertinent to the clinical cases that I see on a routine basis in primary care pediatrics. It was great to have confirmation that the issues that I encounter with management of pediatric behavioral health cases are not specific to my practice and are shared with other pediatric primary care providers. I also appreciate having presentation of perspectives from both medical and behavioral health professionals.”
– Shaveanda Queen, MD
2024 CBT-A Participant
“I’ve had parents ask, ‘What can I do in the meantime?’ It’s clear that CBT is what’s recommended — and now I feel confident recommending it and explaining what it is.”
